Assiniboia Downs, at the Perimeter's edge

Televised simulcast racing runs daily, all year, alongside the VLT lounge and dining. Anyone planning around live races will need the track's calendar.

All wagering at the track is in cash, and there are ATMs on site for anyone who arrives without it. The racing program cost $3 at Guest Services.

The Club West Gaming Lounge holds 140 VLTs in 4,000 square feet. It is open daily from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m., and it is a licensed lounge. The 1 a.m. close belongs to the evening before: Saturday's hours end early on Sunday morning.

Unlike the racing, the lounge runs all year. Assiniboia Downs is open year round, with dining alongside the VLTs and daily simulcast racing. No poker room is listed at the track. Holiday hours should be checked on the track's own site.

The address is 3975 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3K 2E9, and the phone is 204-885-3330. The address says Winnipeg, but the grandstand is just outside the Perimeter Highway on the west side, 0.4 km from it in a straight line. From Winnipeg City Hall it is 13.6 km, also a straight line rather than a driving distance. Kiinu Gaming Centre is about 15 km north, on Highway 6, 2 km off the Perimeter.

Gaming machines arrived in 1994, combining pari-mutuel wagering with VLT-style games, owned and operated by the Manitoba Lotteries Corporation. The LGCA licenses all horse race tracks and betting theatres in Manitoba, this one included.
