Fact checks behind this Manitoba guide

Checked October 7, 2026

Sasha WrenBy Sasha Wren

Facts on this site were checked on October 7, 2026, against the venues' own pages and official sources. Straight-line distances, and the line of the Perimeter Highway itself, come from OpenStreetMap coordinates.

Where the facts come from

Venue facts come from each venue's own site, and for the three MBLL venues from the Casinos of Winnipeg pages. Rules on age, ID and licensing come from MBLL, the LGCA and Manitoba's statutes, chiefly the Liquor, Gaming and Cannabis Control Act. Help lines and self-exclusion come mainly from Shared Health and MBLL's informed gambling pages. Travel Manitoba supplies the tourism regions. A CBC report gives the date Sand Hills opened.

Two sites could not be read on October 7, 2026. For Assiniboia Downs, the guide relies on archived copies of the track's own pages from January to March 2026. PlayNow facts come from MBLL pages instead.

Venue coordinates, where a venue has them, and the path of the Perimeter Highway come from OpenStreetMap. Every fact is filed with its source, so a figure on the site can be traced to the page that printed it or to the coordinates behind it.

Rules for what gets printed

When two official pages give different figures, the guide leaves the figure out and says the pages differ. South Beach slot machine counts are the plain case. One venue page prints a help line number that conflicts with every provincial source, so it is not published here. The Gambling Helpline, 1-800-463-1554, appears in its place.

Distances are straight lines between coordinates, not road distances or driving times. Times are Central Time. An hour after midnight belongs to the shift that started the evening before: a Saturday shift that closes at 5 AM ends on Sunday morning. Holiday hours are not given, so check them on the venue's own site.

No venue gets a score, a star or a rank. The town ruler covers towns in every direction from Winnipeg. It runs from Altona and Morris in the south to Flin Flon and Thompson in the north. Brandon, Steinbach and The Pas are on it too. Each town shows its nearest venue in this guide, measured in a straight line.
